Hard Fought Battle Falls Away From Pirates

Hard Fought Battle Falls Away From Pirates

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The scoreboard did not reflect the effort put forth by the Southwestern Men's Soccer team as they dropped a 4-0 match to Colorado College on Sunday afternoon.

Southwestern had their chances and took advantage of them only to have two goals called back, one on a foul and one on offside, inevitably stealing the Pirates of any momentum.

Colorado took a slight 1-0 lead into the break after a goal in the 18th minute, but a strong second half push by the Tigers led to three second half goals and a 4-0 win.

SU posted four shots and two corners in the match while Colorado College had 27 with eight corners. Daniel Poole recorded five saves in goal on a busy afternoon while CC's Marowitz posted one save.

With the loss the Pirates fall to 11-7 on the season and 5-4 in the SCAC, into third place in the standings with one game to play. They head to San Antonio on Wednesday night to take on first place Trinity in thier final SCAC conference regular season match.
