Second Half Trips Up Pirates

Second Half Trips Up Pirates

SHERMAN, Texas – Austin College scored three goals in the second half to hand Southwestern a 3-0 loss in SCAC conference action on Friday night.

Austin College came out on a mission, taking seven shots before the Pirates were able to get one look at goal. Once the Pirates got going, however, they went on a tear with two corner kicks and three shots in less than a minute. Despite the attack SU wasn't able to find the back of the net as the 'Roos were in the right place at the right time.

AC got their first goal in the 55th minute and added a second just three minutes later to put the Pirates at a disadvantage. With another goal in the 67th minute Austin College wrapped up the win and closed out the game.

The Pirates were +3 on shots, 26-23 and had two more corners, 6-4. SU's Daniel Poole and AC's Andrew Celio each racked-up seven saves.

With the loss Southwestern falls to 6-5 on the season. They return to action at Centenary College on Sunday afternoon.
