GEORGETOWN, TEXAS- The University of Dallas Crusaders traveled to play on Varsity Field versus Southwestern on Friday, Oct 20, 2023. 

With kickoff at 5:00PM and the temperature at 95 degrees, the Pirates looked to attack early. They immediately put pressure on the Crusaders, winning nearly every 50/50 ball. Fifteen minutes into the match, Meredith Lannan led a charging Lilly Van Meeter down the right sideline from center field. Van Meter took a few long dribbles and crossed in perfectly so Breana Trevino could one-touch it in giving the Pirates the early lead and her third goal of the season. First-year Jackie Powell helped the Pirate's aggressive play as she was active all match, including a cross to Samantha Hazen who was able to direct it to Sydney Boswell for the header in goal and the 2-0 lead early in the second half. 

The Crusaders would get one goal on the Pirates in the 87th minute, but the Pirates were able to walk away from this one with the win and turn their focus to their next match, Senior Day on Oct 22, 2023 at 12:00 PM CDT versus the Austin College.
