GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern women's soccer scored a season-high six goals in a shutout victory over the Austin College Kangaroos, improving to 5-0 in conference play.

Freshman forward Samantha Hazen led the offensive attack with two goals on four shots (all on goal) and an assist, bringing her season points total to 25 with nine goals, including four game-winners and seven assists.

Southwestern scored first, working out of a corner kick. Working from the left corner, Hanna Sanderson delivered a perfect pass to the far side to Lilly Van Meter. Van Meter's header had enough force to ricochet off the hands of Austin College goalkeeper Meredith Harris and towards the dependable leg of Hazen for her eighth goal of the season.

The Pirates built their second goal out of the backfield with Van Meter finding Hazen on a long pass down the right sideline, just past midfield. Hazen's first touch pushed the ball ahead into open space. The freshman forward's pace overtook Austin College's defensive midfield, going on a long run into the box, where she crossed it to Alexis Guajardo for the score.

Hazen put the Pirates on board for a third time at the 25:55 mark. Midfielder Breana Trevino put the ball into Southwestern's attacking third with a pass from the centerline. Austin College defender Dajia Campbell tried to clear it, but her heavy touch found Hazen in open space with a path toward the goal that Austin College's defensive backline couldn't close in time.

Team captains Hanna Sanderson and Sam Davis connected on Southwestern's fourth goal, with Davis's header finding the back of the net off a perfectly placed corner kick from Sanderson.

Freshman forward Lisa Borge scored both goals for the Pirates in the second half. Her first goal came off an excellent feed from Whitney Whitehill to the right side of the box. Then, Borge sidestepped one defender and placed a low, one-bouncer to the keeper's left into the back of the net.

Whitehill also assisted Borge on the final goal of the afternoon. Southwestern defender Natalia Vela generated the opportunity, sending a long, perfectly weighted pass down the right sideline, leading Whitehill into open space in the right corner. Whitehill crossed it to Borge, who sent the ball high and to the left of the keeper's outstretched arms into the back of the net.

Southwestern outshot Austin College 36-2 with an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Pirates defense didn't allow a single shot on goal.

With the win, the Southwestern improves to 13-1 this season. The Pirates will celebrate their seniors on Sunday when they host the University of Dallas at noon.
