Women's Soccer loses 3-0 to UTT

TYLER, Texas - Southwestern continues to search for their first win of the season, falling 3-0 to UT Tyler on Sunday afternoon.

The Pirates trailed 17-2 in the shot count in the first half, but once again, the Southwestern defense kept SU in the game with their outstanding play. Katherine Rodgers posted 11 saves in the match including eight in the first half. Despite the lopsided shot count, SU was down just 1-0 at halftime.

Caitlyn Mortus scored with 15 minutes to play in the game with a shot just inside the left box and UTT added one more with under four to play to arrive at the 3-0 final.

Southwestern trailed 23-3 in the shot count and weren't allowed any corner kicks while the Patriots had 12 corner opportunities.

Krysta Maples, Hayley Warriner and Hayley Miesse had one shot each for the Pirates while Miesse's was the only one on frame.

Now 0-6-1 on the year, Southwestern remains on the road as they open SCAC conference action on Friday at 5 p.m., facing the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.
