Women’s soccer falls to Claremont Mudd Scripps

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Southwestern's offense was stifled as the Pirates were defeated 2-0 by CMS on Friday.

Claremont came out blazing, taking seven shots and one corner kick in the opening 20 minutes of the match. Kylie Hunt posted five saves in goal in her first collegiate start, holding the game scoreless in the opening 45 minutes despite the onslaught.

Less than ten minutes into the second half CMS saw the fruit of their labor as Makella Brems scored unassisted. 20 minutes later CMS scored again as Natalie Ricci crossed the ball in from the right side, finding Ashley Barnhill to arrive at the 2-0 final.

Southwestern was never able to get anything going offensively and were held without a shot for the game.

Katherine Rodgers was in goal the final 45 minutes and recorded five saves of her own.

The Pirates return to action on Sunday against Occidental at 1:00 pm, hosted by Cal Lutheran.
