Pirates fall in first SCAC Finals appearance

SEGUIN, Texas - With a 5-0 loss to the Trinity Tigers, Southwestern women's soccer ends their season with their first appearance in the SCAC Finals.

Trinity needed just 1:21 to take control of the game as Kelsey Falcone put home Emily Jorgens rebound for a 1-0 lead. Southwestern responded by turning things up defensively and trailed by one through most of the first half until TU added one more in the 36th  minute and one in the 40th minute to lead 3 -0 at halftime.

Nine minutes into the second half the Tigers pulled ahead by four on another goal by Falcone and added their final goal in the 68th minute for the 5-0 final.

Mariah Escajeda was strong in goal for the Pirates, recording 11 saves on 14 shots on goal in just 45 minutes of action. Senior Katherine Rodgers entered for the second half and recorded three saves.

Southwestern ends the season at 10-9-1 on the year and take second place honors at the tournament. Four seniors ended their career in Seguin, Rebecca Petro, Kylie O'Connor, Paige Duggins and Lindsay Jakszta
