Early Lead Not Enough to Give Pirates Win

RICHARDSON, Texas. - Southwestern scored the first goal of the game and the only goal of the first half but couldn't hang on to the lead as they fell 2-1 to UT Dallas on Friday night. With the loss the Pirates fall to 0-4 on the season.

Lindsay Jakszta posted SU's goal in the 32nd minute with a shot from outside the box that drifted over the keeper's head, giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Southwestern took four shots in the half to the Comet's five.

It was a different game the second half as UTD turned up the heat and went on the attack, taking eight shots in the second frame while holding Southwestern to one. The game tying goal came in the 49th minute with a low hard shot by Emily Hokanson and UTD added one more three minutes later as Sarah Borg scored after ending one-on-one with Sarah Nonaka in goal.

Nonaka recorded five saves in the game while UTD's Ament and Best split time and posted one save total. The Pirates trailed 13-5 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks. They stay on the road to face UT Tyler on Sunday at 1pm.
