Head Coach Jack Flatau
Now in his 11th season as head coach, Jack Flatau has built the Southwestern University women's soccer program in to a consistent winner over the last decade that expects to contend at the top of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Since arriving at Southwestern in 1997, Flatau has demonstrated his ability to recruit outstanding student-athletes. In his first season at the helm, he guided Southwestern to a 5-2 SCAC record and a third place finish. The followng year he led the Pirates to another great finish with 6-3 record for fourth in the conference. In 2002 he led the Pirates to an 11-8-1 overall which recorded his most wins in a single season at Southwestern. He followed that season up with a 9-9-1 ledger in 2003 and then in 2004 compiled a 9-7-1 record while going 6-2-1 in the SCAC good enough for a fourth place finish. While at Southwestern, Flatau has compiled a 79-82-17 overall record with a 44-37-6 record in SCAC play. Flatau has coached 29 All-SCAC players throughout the years with 6 first team selections. In 2006, his recruiting efforts were rewarded, as the SCAC coaches selected Laura Kromann as the SCAC Newcomer of the Year. Flatau came to Southwestern from Austin Westlake High School, where he served as the head men's and women's soccer coach for 12 years. During his tenure, the Chapparals went a combined 240-108-17 (.657). From 1995-1997, Faltau served as the director of coaching for the USA Soccer Club in Austin. He began his coaching career at Kingwood High School, before moving to Conroe High School. He also coached the USISL semi-professional team in San Antonio in 1992. In addition to his coaching background, Flatau holds a USSF A license, a NSCAA Advanced Diploma and is an ODP State Staff coach. A Kenmore East (NY) High School graduate, Flatau attended Cortland State University (NY), where he received his BS in 1979. He earned his MEd from Southwest Texas State University in physical education and educational administration. Flatau and his wife Susie reside in Austin.
