MARSHALL, Texas — Southwestern women's soccer was defeated for the first time this season, losing 2-0 to the East Texas Baptist University Tigers.

The Pirates found rough seas in their first trip away from Georgetown, Texas, this season, surrendering multiple goals for the first time since a March 7 loss to Trinity. This streak lasted 12 games until ETBU's Olivia Gallegos found Aaliyah Casas and Brianna Mickshaw for two scores against the Pirate defense.

ETBU controlled possession in the first half, generating seven shots to Southwestern's three, including a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Casas scored the first goal at the 16:55 mark in the first half. Mickshaw added the insurance goal a little more than two minutes into the second half.

After the break, Southwestern got its offense in gear, getting 10 shots and the half's lone corner. However, ETBU goalkeeper Claire Montondon turned all four Southwestern shots on goal away, preserving her fourth shutout of the season.

ETBU improves to 4-1-1 this season, dropping Southwestern to 6-1. Southwestern will return home to host St. Thomas on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. start, followed by a Sunday noon game against Centenary.
