Georgetown, Texas - The Southwestern women's soccer team will begin the season with an 0-1 record after facing last year's national Semi-Finalist and number four-ranked Virginia Wesleyan Marlins.

It would take all of 74 minutes for the Marlins to notch their first goal of the contest. Johnna Campbell's six saves on seven shots faced on-cage kept the Marlins at bay for the majority of the evening. In total, Campbell saw twenty-two balls come her way throughout the game, an indicator of the time of possession the Marlins were able to maintain.

On the flip side, Southwestern only generated eight total shots on offense forcing just two saves for the Marlin's goalkeeper. The Marlins held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks, however, the Pirates hung tough throughout, only allowing the one goal in a 1-0 final score on Friday night.

The Pirates come back on Sunday for another tough opponent to face the number six ranked Christopher Newport Captains.
