
After producing the greatest season in program history, three members of the Southwestern University Pirates SCAC Champion women's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team.
Seniors Mary Cardone and Romie Reyna were named to the All-West Region Second Team, marking Cardone's second appearance and Reyna's first. First year Alexis Guajardo was named to the All-West Region Third Team.
Cardone finished the season as the conference leader in shutouts (nine) and save percentage (.869), and second in goals-against average (0.74) and saves (106). She wraps up her career as the Pirates' all-time leader in career save percentage (.855), shutouts (26), and goals against average (0.86).
Reyna scored two goals, including one game-winner, for four points while combining with Cardone to anchor a Pirate defense that allowed just 20 goals in 22 games, sporting a 0.91 goals-against-average while posting posted 12 shutouts.
Guajardo led the Pirates in points with 18, scoring eight goals, including four game-winners, with two assists.
The Pirates finished 16-5-1 and 6-2 in conference, winning the first SCAC Championship in program history and making its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
