Karlee Holmes Named SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Southwestern University Pirates women's soccer first year defender Karlee Holmes was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC0 Defensive Player of the Week for her performances through Sunday, Sep. 15. 

From the SCAC: 

"Holmes helped anchor a defense that posted two more shutouts last week to bring its total to four on the season as the Pirates improved to 5-0 for the first time in the SCAC era, which dates back to the 1994 campaign. Holmes also chipped in on the offensive side of the ball, scoring the lone goal in the 1-0 victory against Howard Payne."

Holmes is the second Pirate to take Defensive Player of the Week honors, following goalkeeper Mary Cardone's performance in Week 1. 

The Pirates will host Huston-Tillotson University on Tuesday, Sep. 17 at 7:00 p.m., followed by matches against Johnson & Wales University on Friday, Sep. 20 and McMurry on Sunday, Sep. 22.
