#2 Tigers outmuscle Pirates on Senior Night

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern women's soccer was defeated 6-0 in their final home game to the #2 team in the nation, Trinity.

Trinity took control of the game early, scoring on their first shot in the fourth minute to lead 1-0.

Southwestern pushed on and aggressively attacked, but were held at bay by the Tiger defense's offside trap.

In the 14th minute Trinity made it a 2-0 lead as Kelsey Falcone put the ball in the back of the net.

The Tigers seemingly controlled the tempo of the game the rest of the half and scored one more goal in the 34th minute to extend their lead to 3-0 before. Shelby Guenthardt added two goals in the final six minutes to give Trinity a 5-0 lead heading into halftime.

Southwestern got off just one shot, on goal by Allie Dillon, in the half while Trinity posted 14.

Trinity jumped right back into scoring in the second half, putting one away three minutes into the frame to lead 6-0.

Both offenses stalled the rest of the way as the game wound to a close. Southwestern was outshot 22-2 in the game and trailed 3-0 in corner kicks.

Mariah Escajeda and Katherine Rodgers split time in goal. Rodgers had three saves while Escajeda recorded two.

The Pirates fall to 10-8 on the year and 9-3 in the SCAC but remain in second place in the conference. They advance to the SCAC Conference Tournament for the second year in a row, this time taking the #2 seed with them.

Brackets and game times for the tournament will be announced next week, but games will be held on the campus of Trinity University in San Antonio.
