Women's Soccer shutout Crusaders 2-0

Women's Soccer shutout Crusaders 2-0

IRVING, Texas- Southwestern women's soccer continued their strong play to improve to 4-1 in the SCAC with a 2-0 win over the University of Dallas.

It was a quiet first half, scoring wise, as neither team was able to punch one in, but as they have done all season the Pirates controlled the second half to seal the win.

Just over four minutes into the frame, in the 50th minute, Sarah Bevins scored, unassisted, to give SU a lead they would not relinquish.

In the 64th minute the Pirates got insurance in the form of a goal from leading goal scorer Lindsay Jakszta, assisted by Hannah Neil

Southwestern led 15-9 in shots and allowed just one corner kick in the match. Mariah Escajeda was sensational in goal as she recorded five saves, including three crucial saves to keep the shutout intact.

The Pirates improve to 5-6 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC while Dallas falls to 5-7 and 3-3. Southwestern takes on their toughest opponent to date in their next match, facing Trinity in San Antonio on Tuesday, October 8th at 7 p.m.
