Women's Lacrosse Caps Off Season With Win Over UW - Stout

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Lacrosse (2-7, 1-4) finished out their season against the University of Wisconsin - Stout (4-10, 0-5) on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates led from start to finish in the contest, taking a 5-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Pirates scored one goal to the Blue Devils two in the second quarter, leading to a 6-3 lead at the end of the half. Southwestern would run away with the victory in the second half, scoring eight goals on the way to a 14-5 victory.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cecilla Cantu led the Pirates in scoring on the day with seven goals on thirteen shots. Cantu also grabbed seven draw controls in the afternoon. 
  • Raquel Kurth notched seven points in the contest with six goals and one assist, also recording five draw controls.
  • Hallie Mayfield capped off the game with a goal, two draw controls, and two ground balls for the Pirates.

NOTES

  • Susette Mireles grabbed four ground balls against the Blue Devils with one caused turnover.
  • Hope Culberson matched Mireles with four ground balls.
  • Ana Vines and R'Yani Vaughn collected two and three ground balls, respectively. 
  • Emma Bethke stopped twelve shots and recorded six ground balls in the cage for the Pirates.
