GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern women's lacrosse team traveled to Memphis, Tennessee to take on the Rhodes College Lynx at Mason Field on Sunday.

The Pirates took the first goal of the game thirty seconds in, thanks to junior Liana Collins. However, Rhodes answered in the next thirty seconds. The Lynx then scored the next two goals before senior Emma Pertuit scored on an eight-meter shot to make take the game to 2-3. In two minutes' time, DeAnna Hames tied up the game at 3-3 off an assist from Raquel Kurth. Rhodes went on a four-goal run in the last three minutes to finish out the first quarter taking a 7-3 lead headed into the second.

Collins again scored the first goal of the quarter but the Lynx answered right back with three more goals bringing their lead to 10-4. Kurth made good on her free position shot, cutting the Lynx lead to 10-5. The Lynx began to run away with the contest with six minutes left in the half, scoring five goals before Hames knocked in two goals at the end of the quarter. Rhodes led by an eight-goal margin, 15-7, going into halftime.

As the Pirate offense was able to keep up with Rhodes in the third quarter, scoring three goals to the Lynx five, the large lead Rhodes built in was far too much for the Pirates to overcome. Kurth scored two of the three goals in the third, while Pertuit managed another goal off a Kurth assist.

With the score at 10-20 going into the final quarter of the game, the Lynx poured in four more goals in the fourth while Southwestern had one goal. The seniors, Hames and Pertuit, combined for six goals, four for Hames and two for Petuit, and Kurth led the team in points with six total (3G, 3A). Pertuit absolutely dominated the draw controls for the contest, leading both teams with twelve. Goaltender Brynne Hardway closed out her season with thirteen saves with three groundballs, and one caused turnover.

Southwestern women's lacrosse closes out its season with its best winning percentage in program history. The Pirates recently broke that record in 2022 when they won thirteen out of sixteen games (.813) but finished their 2023 campaign at 9-1, ending with a season win percentage of 90 percent. Southwestern went a perfect 6-0 on Varsity Field and 3-1 on the road.
