COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Southwestern University women's lacrosse team fell to the Colorado College Tigers 18-3 in their road game this Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers took complete control of the game from the very start, winning almost every offensive possession. Colorado took 23 shots on goal, picked up 20 ground balls, and won 7 draw controls while Southwestern struggled to keep up. The Tigers scored a total of ten shots in the first half while almost retaining a shut-out in the half. However, with thirty seconds left in the half, Raquel Kurth scored an unassisted goal to give the Pirates one point on the board.

In the second half, Colorado College was the first to score, but Raven Garcia answered back by slipping the ball into the back of the cage and scoring the second shot for the Pirates. But the Pirates were shut out once again and the Tigers went on a scoring streak the rest of the game. Deanna Hames scored one more goal for the Pirates, assisted by Garica but the game ended 18-3 with Colorado taking another win.

Highlights from the game include that Garcia led the Pirates with a goal and an assist. Emma Pertuit recorded eight draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. For the defense, Brooke Folliard had five caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Up next, Southwestern women's lacrosse will host the Hendrix Warriors next Saturday, April 23 at 5 p.m. and then play the Dallas Warriors on Sunday, April 25 at 1 p.m.
