GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Southwestern University women's lacrosse suffered their first conference game loss 23-10 against the Colorado College Tigers this Saturday evening.

Southwestern scored the game's first goal, with Raquel Kurth scoring off of a free position shot. For the next few possessions, both the Tigers and Pirates would score, only to have the other team answer back each goal that was scored. Colorado College gained the lead at the 15-minute mark, but Southwestern stayed close behind. The game was very physical in the first half, as seven Pirate and Tiger goals were scored off of free position shots. Southwestern won 12 of the 20 draw controls, but Colorado College outshot the Pirates 27-15 and Southwestern had a total of 15 turnovers, which resulted in the Tigres leading the Pirates 11-8 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Colorado College took advantage of the first ten minutes of the game and scored four goals to extend their lead to 15-8.  Deanna Hames and Raven Garcia scored the next two goals for the Pirates, but this would be the last time Southwestern would score a goal. The Tiger's offense dominated the Pirate's defense and scored eight goals before ending the game 23-10.

Highlights from the game include that Kurth scored three goals, three ground balls, one assist and one draw control. Hames also scored three goals and won four draw controls. Garcia, Emma Pertuit and Natasha Perez-Krause all scored one goal and Pertuit picked up 15 groundballs and won 10 draw controls. Southwestern goalie Sofia Valdespino had ten saves and Tessa Lewis had seven saves.

Up next, Southwestern women's lacrosse will travel to Colorado Springs to once again play Colorado College on Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m.
