GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern women's lacrosse blitzed the Hendrix College Warriors right from the opening draw control and never looked back in a 26-8 blowout victory.

The Pirates picked up the opening draw control with Natasha Perez-Krause finding Raven Garcia for a goal within the first 12 seconds of play in a record-setting day for Garcia. The Georgetown native was relentless, recording a hat trick within the first 20 minutes and ending the day with 10 goals and five assists.

Garcia's 15 points set a new Southwestern women's lacrosse record for most in a game, beating former teammate Hayley Donnelly's previous record of 12, set in 2019. The 15 points are also tied for third-most by a Division III player in a game this season.

She was dynamic on the field, scoring in a variety of ways. Garcia attacked in transition, showcasing her speed and agility in open space. The Pirates were also able to isolate her on Hendrix's Bri McDonough, exploiting her quickness to find lanes to the goal repeatedly. She ducked under and split through defenders' sticks and circled the net, sneaking into open spaces for quick-hitters. She also put pressure on the defense, earning a pair of goals on free-position shots.

Deanna Hames finished second on the team with six goals, scoring on a pair of free-position shots, moving off-ball for a pair of assisted goals, and creating two of her own.

Natasha Perez-Krause scored three goals for a hat trick and added an assist. Brooke Folliard, Raquel Kurth, and Brynne Hardway each scored two goals, and Emma Pertuit scored one goal with a game-high 10 draw controls and six ground balls.

Southwestern nearly doubled Hendrix in shot attempts, 41-21, putting 34 on goal. The Pirates also had a 26-8 advantage in ground balls and 20-8 edge in draw controls.

The Pirates pressured the Warriors the length of the field, preventing Hendrix from crossing midfield on many occasions to dominate possession. Goalkeeper Sofia Valdespino played most of the game for the Pirates, recording six saves to earn the win.

Southwestern improves to 4-4 with the win. The Pirates will host the University of Dallas on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with an opportunity to finish with their third consecutive regular-season winning record.
