GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The Southwestern University Women's Lacrosse program has released its schedule for the 2024 season.

The Pirates, under the leadership of Interim Head Coach Taylor Beretich, head into 2024 as affiliate members of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The teams that will compete in the inaugural women's lacrosse championship are WIAC full-time members UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Stout, along with former SCAC opponent and affiliate member, Colorado College. Teams will play a round-robin schedule during the regular season with the top-four teams advancing to the conference tournament.

Southwestern ended 2023 with a 9-1 record on the season and a perfect 7-0 record at home while going 3-1 on the road. The Pirates' only loss of the year came against Rhodes College in their final contest of the season.

Women's lacrosse will kick off the 2024 season on Sunday, March 10th when they play the Sewanee Tigers on the road in Tennessee, followed by a neutral site game against Augsburg on March 12th hosted by Sewanee. To end the month of March and to cap off non-conference play, Southwestern will travel to Georgia, first to take on Oglethorpe University on March 28th, followed by Berry College on March 30th.

The month of April means the start of conference play for the Pirates. Southwestern will not be unfamiliar with WIAC opponents, having competed against the likes of Colorado College, UW-River Falls, and UW-Eau Claire in the past, most notably defeating Eau Claire twice in 2023. The Pirates go on the road to Wisconsin to play their first conference game against first-year program UW-Stevens Point on April 5th at 6:00 PM and will battle River Falls the following day on April 6th at 1:00 PM.

After six games on the road, Southwestern plays host to UW-La Crosse on Friday, April 12th at 4:00 PM on Varsity Field. The Pirates then meet Colorado College at home two days later on Sunday, April 14th at 2:00 PM.

Southwestern ends the regular season on the road facing Eau Claire and UW-Stout on April 27th and 28th respectively.

As previously mentioned, the top four teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the WIAC Conference tournament on Friday, May 3rd, and Saturday, May 4th. The highest seed of the Wisconsin members will host the tournament semifinals and the championship matchup.
