Ten Pirates Earn All-Conference Awards; Garcia and Pertuit Win Player of the Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Raven Garcia of Southwestern University was voted Attacker-of-the-Year, her teammate Emma Pertuit was selected the league's Defender-of-the-Year.

Garcia, a senior attacker from Georgetown, Texas, led Southwestern and the SCAC in assists (30) and points (77) and finished second in goals scored with 47 behind her teammate Deanna Hames who had 49. Her assist total is the fifth-highest single season total in conference history and her 77 points represent the eight-most. She had the third-highest scoring game in conference history on March 12 when she had four goals and seven assists for 11 points against Northwestern-St. Paul. A two-time All-SCAC honoree and the league's Offensive Player-of-the-Week in Weeks 3, 8 and 9, Garcia helped the Pirates lead the league in scoring this season (15.56 goals per game) and finished her career as the program's all-time leader in almost every offensive category, including goals scored (122), assists (69) and points (191).

Garcia is the second Southwestern player to earn Attacker-of-the-Year honors, following Hayley Donnelly who earned the honor following the 2019 season.

Pertuit, a junior midfielder from Seabrook, Texas, led the Pirates and the conference in several defensive categories, including ground balls with 64 (fourth-highest single season total in SCAC history) and caused turnovers with 32. Her 83 draw controls led the team and ranked as the second-highest total in the league this year. The Defensive Player-of-the-Week in Weeks 6, 7 and 9, Pertuit, who was last season's SCAC Midfielder-of-the-Year, was also a force on the offensive side of the field, scoring 31 goals and adding 13 assists for 44 points on the season. She had a team-high three goals and five draw controls in the Pirates' loss to Colorado College in the SCAC championship game.

Pertuit is the second consecutive Southwestern women's lacrosse player to earn SCAC Defender-of-the-Year honors, following current teammate Brooke Folliard who won the award following the 2021 season.

In total, ten Pirates earned All-SCAC honors, eight first selections and two honorable mention selections.
