Emma Pertuit Named SCAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Emma Pertuit was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 9 through Sunday, March 15.

The Pirates' first-year midfielder won 18 draw controls, grabbed 14 ground balls, and had eight caused turnovers in Southwestern University's two games last week.

In the Pirates' 19-17 win over Carthage, she had 10 draw controls, four caused turnovers, and nine ground balls. She also keyed the Pirates' transition attack, scoring eight goals with an assist for nine points through two games.

This is Pertuit's second Defensive Player of the Week award this season. In six games played, she finished with a conference-high 21 points, leading the SCAC with 17 goals while also contributing four assists. She also had 55 draw controls, 29 ground balls, and 16 caused turnovers, leading the conference in all three categories.
