Emma Pertuit Named SCAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Southwestern University Pirates first year midfielder Emma Pertuit was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, March 1.

Pertuit was stifling in the Pirates' 25-5 victory over the University of Dallas Crusaders, leading Southwestern with 12 draw controls and four ground balls with three caused turnovers. Pertuit and the Pirates limited the Crusaders to just 11 total shots, including just seven on the cage.

For the season, Pertuit has 23 ground balls, 31 draw controls, and 11 caused turnovers, leading the conference in all three categories.

Southwestern is 3-1 on the season, including 2-1 on the road. The Pirates will host St. Mary's (Indiana) on Sunday, March 8 at noon in the first of three games of the Southwestern Women's Lacrosse Classic, taking place all next week.
