GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Southwestern's women's lacrosse senior duo of Johnee Wolter and Haley Hurt both dominated the Pirate offense as each scored four goals to ensure the win over Elmira College.

Not only were Wolter and Hurt the high scorers of the game, but Wolter attributed four groundballs and two assists while Hurt made four of the five goals taken at the goal, raising her shooting percentage to 55.6.

In the start of the period, Elmira's Mikayla Carfello was quick to score the first goal within the first two minutes of the game. However, this did not shake Wolter or Hurt who both were quick to score back to back goals followed by Natasha Perez-Krause scoring the third goal. The Pirates were up 3-1 with 21 minutes left in the first half.

Once again Wolter and Hurts would follow up with two more goals to keep the momentum going for the Pirates. Elmira had foul trouble and gave the Pirates a couple of free shots at their goalie Krystyna Lilland. Combined with fouls and 17 turnovers in the first half, the Pirates went on to score seven more goals before half time with a lead of 13-2.

In the second half, Elmira cut down on their turnovers and was able to score two more goals, however, with Wolter winning six of the seven draws, and Emma Pertuit ready to pick up any and all groundballs, the Pirates limited the Eagles offense while also scoring four more goals to end the game 17-4.

Other highlighted players from the night were included Grace Maynard who contributed three goals, three caused turnovers and one groundball; and Natasha Perez-Krause, Deanna Hames and Emma Pertuit, who made two goals each. Hames added two assists and three groundballs while Pertuit picked up 12 groundballs, five caused turnovers and had one assist.

Goalie Tessa Lewis made two saves in the first half with Sofia Valdespino making one save in the second half.

Up next, the Pirates will play another home game on Varsity Field on Sunday, March 8 at noon against St. Mary's College Notre Dame, IN.
