Women's Swimming & Diving To Send Five To NCAA Championships

The NCAA announced the field for the NCAA National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, inviting five Southwestern University women's swimming and diving team swimmers to the meet taking place from March 16-19. 

Senior Jesse Stovall highlights the Southwestern national qualifiers. The 2020 All-American earned her second invitation to the national championship meet, having received an invite in 2020 before the meet was canceled due to the pandemic. 

Stovall qualified for NCAA b-cuts and will compete in the 50-yard freestyle (23.22), 100-yard freestyle (50.97), and 100-yard butterfly (55.71), as well as the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.49) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:28.55).

She will wrap up her career as the four-time SCAC Champion in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, holding the SCAC record in the 50-yard freestyle (23.22). Stovall is also a three-time 100-yard butterfly champion with the school record in that event (55.71). 

Southwestern will also send its 200-yard freestyle relay team and 400-yard freestyle relay team. Stovall, Zoe Garcia, Emma Williams, and Emma Frey qualified for the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.49 at the SCAC Championships, setting a new conference record. Frey, Garcia, Delaney Anthony, and Stovall qualified for the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:28.55 at the SCAC Championships, finishing second. 

The 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships will be hosted by Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation.
