Stovall Earns Third Consecutive First Place Finish in First Day of SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Southwestern University Pirates women's swim team came in second as they completed the first day in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at the Bill Walker Natatorium.

Southwestern scored 225 points to come in right behind Trinity University, which scored 298 points and earned first place. Colorado College came in third with a score of 160 points, followed by Centenary College at fourth with 120 points, Austin College at fifth with 102 points, University of the Ozarks at sixth with 68 points and McMurry University at seventh with 64 points.

For the third consecutive year, Jesse Stovall once again finished first in women's 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 23.92. Emma Williams and Emma Frey followed close behind and both tied in fourth place at the same time of 25.00.  Zoe Garcia (25.36) and Catherine Hiebel (25.47) also placed in the top 10, claiming eighth and ninth place. 

Delaney Anthony came in 12th place with a time of 25.72 in the 50-yard freestyle, followed by Riley Barlage placing 14th with a time of 26.04, Natalie Hicks placing 20th with a time of 26.87 and Sydney Webb placing 29th with a time of 28.69.

Rehgan Hartsell won sixth place in the women's 200-yard IM with a time of 2:14.38, followed by Natalie Gierat in seventh with a time of 2:14.44. Kate Dudley finished in ninth place with a time of 2:18.19 and Hannah Kral finished in 12th place with a time of 2:25.99.

In the women's 500-yard freestyle, Maysen Hauck placed seventh with a time of 5:18.74 and Alicia Peters placed 16th with a time of 5:46.48.

In the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, Southwestern placed second with a time of 1:37.22, with Stovall, Williams, Hartsell, and Frey, right behind Trinity which finished at 1:36.46. The four swimmers from Southwestern also placed second in the 400-yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:01.53. 

The SCAC Championships continue on Friday at noon, with competition in five more individual swim events and two more relays. Women's diving will also open up on Friday at 2 p.m., beginning with the women's 1-meter event.
