Southwestern In Third After Day 1 of the SCAC Championships

GARLAND, Texas — The Southwestern men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, with both teams in third place. 

Trinity opened the championships on a tear, going 4-for-4 in winning the championship-opening relay races and setting new SCAC records in each event. 

In the women's 200-yard medley relay, Trinity clocked in at 1:45.30. Southwestern's Emma FreyNatalie GieratJesse Stovall, and Emma Williams followed two seconds behind at 1:47.30. 

Southwestern's men finished third in the 200-yard medley relay. Trinity scored a 1:30.59, followed by Colorado College at 1:32.49. Carter DuncanSam AndersonKevan Kennedy, and Henry McClure finished at 1:33.73. 

Stovall, Zoe Garcia, Frey, and Maysen Hauck represented the Southwestern women in the 800-yard freestyle relay, placing third with a time of 7:48.97. Trinity won the event at 7:30.68, and Colorado College placed second at 7:44.26. 

The Southwestern men's quartet of Anderson, Sebastian Ortiz, Kennedy, and Zach Kangieser also finished third in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:49.83, with Trinity clocking in at 6:43.01 and Colorado College at 6:46.03. 

Tomorrow's events begin with preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. and the Finals at 6:00 p.m. The Day 2 events include the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, and the 50-yard freestyle.
