GARLAND, Texas — The Southwestern women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its SCAC Championships with a second-place finish and two superlative awards.
Head swimming coach Jon Duncan, diving coach Jake Foust, and assistant coach Sarah James earned the SCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff of the Year award. It's the second time the Pirates have claimed the award in program history and the first since 2009.
Senior Jesse Stovall added to her prestigious swimming career, winning her third SCAC Swimmer of the Meet award.
On the final day of competition, Stovall won the 100-yard freestyle, wrapping up her college career undefeated in both the 100 and 50-yard freestyle races at the conference championship meets. Stovall (50.97) edged out Trinity's Emma Hagan (51.09), with both earning NCAA B-cuts. In addition, Stovall's time set a new school record in the event.
Stovall earned titles in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 50-yard freestyle relay, the 100-yard butterfly, and the 100-yard freestyle. She also placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard medley relay, and 400-yard freestyle relay, and third in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Maysen Hauck set a new Southwestern record at 2:06.20 in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing just behind Trinity's Mabel Fowler, who earned an NCAA B-cut with a time of 2:01.85. Molly Spano's time of 2:14.73 earned a third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing behind two NCAA B-cuts.
Southwestern's quartet of Emma Frey, Zoe Garcia, Delaney Anthony, and Stovall earned second place in the 400-yard relay with a time of 3:28.55, earning an NCAA B-cut.
