LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia -- Grace Maynard, a junior midfielder from Cedar Park, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 4th through February 10th.

Maynard was instrumental in the Pirates opening 23-5 victory against Huntingdon last Sunday. Maynard collected four ground balls, won four draw controls and caused one turnover to help limit the Hawks offense to just five goals and 14 shots.

Other notable players in the game against Huntingdon, Raven Garcia, Johnee Wolter, Ronni Winter and Hayley Donnelly totaled four goals each to lead the Pirates' offensive efforts and Donnelly also had three ground balls. McKenna Zinke and Gillian Glover split time in goal for Southwestern, with Zinke allowing three goals and making three saves while Glover allowed two goals with two saves in the second half.
