GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Lacrosse (1-1) fell on the road to the Oglethorpe University Petrels (9-4) on Thursday night. Both offenses opened up the scoring column in the first quarter, going for a combined fifteen goals between the two teams. However, the Pirates's defense was unable to stop the Petrels throughout the game, leaving the final margin at 14-24 in favor of Oglethorpe.
HIGHLIGHTS
Cecilla Cantu led the Pirates in assists and tied for overall points, going for five goals and two assists.
Raquel Kurth also had seven points and led the Pirates in goals with six against the Petrels.
Liana Collins recorded a hat trick in the game, scoring three goals on five shots.
NOTES
Goaltender Emma Bethke scooped up nine groundballs, leading the Pirates in that category. Bethke also led both teams in saves with eight.
Oglethorpe won the draw control battle in the contest, taking twenty-five draws compared to the Pirates' thirteen.
