GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Women's lacrosse made the trip all the way to Fremont, Nebraska to take on the NAIA Midland University Warriors. In an early evening Friday game, the Pirates came into the game already holding an advantage as the Warriors had to play a player-down due to injury.

The Pirates scored six goals in the first fourteen minutes of play before the Warriors would find the back of the net. Emma Pertuit secured a hat trick in just eight minutes of game time while Raquel Kurth and DeAnna Hames added two goals of their own in the first quarter.

Holding a 7-1 lead going into the second period, Southwestern rattled off five straight goals with Cecilla Cantu kicking off the scoring followed by two more from Hames, one from Liana Collins and another from Kurth. The five goals in the second gave the Pirates a comfortable 12-2 lead at the halfway point.

Cantu again secured the first goal of the quarter coming out of halftime and her fellow first-year attacker Sydney Nakaoki matched Cantu's goal total up to that point with two goals in the third. Kurth scored yet another goal on a free position shot to bring their lead to 16-3 by the end of the third.

More of the same for the Pirates allowed them to cruise to a 20-4 finish over the Warriors. Five different Pirates scored two or more goals and the team would end with a 74 percent shooting percentage and won 81 percent of the draw controls. It was an easy night for senior goaltender Brynne Hardway as she made four saves against eight shots on goal.

The Pirates fly back home and will be on the road for their next matchup against another Warrior team, this time the Hendrix College Warriors on Saturday, April 1st at 11:00 AM.
