Women's Lacrosse Dips to 1-2 in Conference Play

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Lacrosse (2-4) opened up their season at Varsity Field on Friday afternoon, playing host to the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Eagles (8-3). The Pirates found themselves down 1-6 after the first quarter of play, and the Eagles extended that lead to 1-10 by halftime. The Pirates battled back in the second half, only giving up five goals to the Eagles in the second half, but the Pirate offense was limited to five goals in the game, giving the Eagles a 5-15 victory over Southwestern.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Raquel Kurth had a hat trick in the game, scoring three goals on nine shots. She also had ten draw controls.
  • Cecilla Cantu had one goal off five shots; she scooped up four ground balls and three draw controls.
  • Hope Culberson picked up three ground balls for the Pirates while causing one turnover and recording a draw control.

NOTES

  • Liana Collins put up one goal, two draw controls, and two ground balls; she also caused one turnover.
  • Eagles goaltenders stopped ten shots against fifteen shots on goal from the Pirates.
  • Southwestern won seventeen draw controls to the Eagles' seven, but the Pirates turned the ball over twenty-five times in the contest.
