Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Pacific University

On a beautiful day in southern California, the Pirates' capped off their spring break road trip with a convincing win against the Pacific University Boxers. 

The Pirates' unleashed a storm of shots in the first quarter against the Boxers. The Pirates converted on over half of their shots, amassing eight goals to start the game. Six different Pirates had goals by the end of the quarter and the Boxers' were nowhere in sight.

There was a relative slow down for the Pirates in the second quarter. However, they were still able to administer three more goals to the Boxer defense. Sr. attacker Raven Garcia had a monster half with four goals; Deanna Hames and Liana Collins also had multiple goals in the half. Defensively, it was an easy afternoon for starting goaltender Tessa Lewis as the Boxers only managed one shot in the entire half. The Boxers were shut out going into halftime with a score of 11-0.

There were plenty of opportunities to steal back possessions, with the Pirates' forcing 12 of the Boxers' turnovers and winning the overall groundball battle. Skye George and Sierra Rupp had two CTs each, while Caden Laflamme-Szakonyi and Emma Pertuit impacted the game fighting for ground balls; Pertuit secured 5 GBs while Laflamme-Sxakonyi had three herself. 

Garcia had the highest points total of the afternoon having four goals and three assists; meanwhile, Hames scored the most goals with a total of five, adding one assist. In total, nine different Pirates scored in the contest. The Boxers put in two goals in the second half, but the Pirates would take the win handily with a final score of 18-2.

Women's lacrosse comes back to Georgetown, Texas, to face Hope College on Tuesday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM.
