Pirates Defeated by Vikings, Kurth hits Century mark in Career Goals

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Southwestern Women's Lacrosse (1-3) took on the Berry College Vikings (9-3) on Saturday morning to close out their two-game trip to Georgia. The Vikings jumped out to a 8-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, scoring five goals or more in the next two quarters. The Pirates scored seven of their goals in the second period but ultimately fell to the Vikings 22-9. Raquel Kurth scored six of her seven goals in the contest in the second quarter, propelling her to 102 goals in her career as a Pirate. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Cecilla Cantu was second on the team in points for the game with two goals and two assists. 
  • Liana Collins was credited with two assists and four draw controls on the afternoon.
  • Hope Culberson caused three turnovers against the Vikings and two groundballs.

NOTES

  • Southwestern lost the draw control battle by one, collecting sixteen draws compared to Berry's seventeen.
  • The Pirates lost the groundball battle, with Berry totaling thirty-three GBs and the Pirates ten.
  • Emma Bethke stopped twelve shots against the Vikings seven.
