GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Aniyah Burke, a sophomore guard from Cedar Park, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, January 1 through Sunday, January 7.
Burke led the Pirates to a pair of key SCAC road wins last weekend knocking off St. Thomas, 54-49, on Friday and Centenary, 54-42, on Sunday. The sophomore averaged 18.5 points on an impressive 52 percent shooting, high-lighted by 21 points, including 10 of the Pirates 13 fourth quarter points to secure a comeback win over the Celts. She then followed that up with a game-high 16 points in the victory over the Ladies on Sunday. Burke's 21 points on Friday was the fourth time this season and second time in the last three games she has reached the 20-point plateau. Additionally, Burke added 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game in the two wins. Burke's efforts have sparked the first three-game win streak for Southwestern since December 2022.
