Owens Named SCAC Player-of-the-Week

GEORGETOWN, Texas - For the second time in three weeks, a Southwestern women's basketball player has earned conference Player-of-the-Week honors. 

JORDAN OWENS OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Richardson, Texas, has been named SCAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday, November 26 through Sunday, December 2.

Owens guided the Pirates to 2-0 during its SCAC opening weekend.

Owens averaged 22 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, two assists per game and one steal per game in two games for Southwestern. Against Centenary on Saturday, Owens scored a game-high 34 points on 11 of 20 shooting (55.5 percent) to go along with eight rebounds. She also added a steal in a 95-79win. Against Austin College on Friday, Owens scored 10 points including making 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. She added seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in the Pirates' 66-54 win. For the week, Owens shot 14 of 30 (46.7 percent) from the floor and 5 of 9 (55.6 percent) from 3-point range.

Southwestern has started off the season at 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC. They have a much deserved week off and return to action on December 15th to face Concordia University at home.
