Senior Mike Powell (Houston, TX/Episcopal HS), a guard on the Southwestern men's basketball team, has been selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team that was announced on Thursday (Feb. 7).

Powell owns a 3.91 grade point average while majoring in accounting at Southwestern. He is also the Pirates' leading scorer, averaging 10.1 points per game. Powell is also leading SU in assists, with 32 on the season. He has totaled 661 points for his career and is a 85.3 percent career free throw shooter.

The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
