GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Men's Basketball moves to 4-9 in conference play after taking a big win against the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in Seguin on Tuesday night. The Pirates sit just outside of the top six teams, who, at the end of the season, will advance to the SCAC conference championship tournament.
The Pirates were dead-even with the Bulldogs all throughout the first half. The story might have been different if it wasn't for Brock Luechtefeld, who led both teams in scoring in the first half with fifteen points, including seven rebounds. Luke Hatcher assisted the Pirates in scoring with eight first-half points and four rebounds.
Southwestern pulled away late in the second half thanks to double-digit scoring games from Hatcher (17 points), Preston Hannah (10 points), and Jacob Hester (11 points). Luechtefelds' double-double and fourth 20+ point game of the season powered the Pirates to take an 81-68 win over the Bulldogs.
Men's Basketball will have its final home game against Colorado College (Senior Night) on Sunday, February 12th, at 2:00 PM.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will also be holding their "Change for the Better Night", raising money for the Brookwood in Georgetown, which provides an educational environment that creates meaningful jobs, builds a sense of belonging, and validates dignity and respect for adults with disabilities.
To provide an early donation, please Venmo money to Student Athlete Advisory Committee President Leo Toussaint @Leo-Toussaint-1 and add a comment "Change for the Better". Final donation results will be released on Monday, February 13th.
