Celebrate the start of our Southwestern men's and women's basketball season at our annual Southwestern Tip-Off event on Tuesday, Oct. 26th, at 8:00 p.m. at the Corbin J. Robertson Center.
"We are excited to hold this event again after not being able to play in front of the Southwestern community last year," Southwestern head men's basketball coach Connor Kuykendall says. "Both teams have been working hard and are excited to get back to normalcy, starting with our annual Tip-Off night."
All-Conference returners Kyle Poerschke and sharpshooter Lauren Fulenwider headline a core of exciting, young basketball players looking to make their mark on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. There will be free food and prizes with the festivities, which include a 3-point shootout, dunk contest, and crowd participatory events with an opportunity to win Canes for a year.
"One of our main goals with this event is for the student body to have fun watching their fellow Pirates put on a show," Southwestern head women's basketball coach Greta Grothe says. "Not to mention they will have the opportunity to win some prizes and enjoy free food."
Southwestern women's basketball season opens on the road against Concordia on Friday, Nov. 5th. The men and women have their home opener against Howard Payne University on Saturday, Nov. 6th, at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
