Five members of the Southwestern University Pirates men's basketball 2020 senior class were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2019-20 Honors Court in a press release issued by the NABC

Brandon Alexander, Kyle Howard, Joel Martinez, Justin McCormack, and Andrew Puhl were among the 1,350 men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics this past season. The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

"Coach [Zac] Graham and I are extremely proud of the effort our guys had academically this past year," Head Coach Connor Kuykendall said. "To finish the year with a team GPA of 3.42 for the fall and spring semester is quite impressive. There has been a high level of expectation for academic success in this program for years and this year's team should be proud of what they accomplished."

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:

1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.

2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year.

3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.

4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
