Brandon Alexander Receives All-SCAC Second Team, Elite 19 Award

Senior forward Brandon Alexander received the SCAC Elite 19 award and was one of two Southwestern University Pirates men's basketball players to receive All-SCAC recognition, earning a spot on the Second Team All-SCAC.

Fellow senior, starting point guard Kyle Howard received honorable mention.

This is Alexander's third career All-SCAC award, earning Third Team All-SCAC his sophomore season and First Team All-SCAC and SCAC Player of the Year honors last season.

The Pirates' leading scorer averaged 14.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season, finishing with career averages of 16.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He also currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.801 in Business and Communication Studies, earning him the Elite 19 award.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First or Second Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.

Alexander finishes his collegiate career with 1,231 points and 475 rebounds.

Howard averaged 11.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game this season, shooting 45.5 percent from the field.

Southwestern finished the season 12-14, including 8-10 in conference play, earning the sixth seed in the SCAC Tournament.
