Brandon Alexander Named SCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Southwestern University Pirates senior Brandon Alexander was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performances in games played from Monday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 23.

Alexander carried the Pirates to a pair of victories to clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament on the last day of the regular season. The reigning SCAC Player of the Year was brilliant against Colorado College, scoring 24 points in a matchup between two teams vying for the final seed in the postseason tournament, leading the Pirates to a 74-70 victory.

In the last home game of his collegiate career, Alexander closed the regular season out with a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double to give the Pirates a 79-68 victory over Johnson & Wales University. Alexander finished the season as the Pirates' leader points and rebounds, averaging 14.7 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Southwestern finished the regular season with a 12-13 record, including 8-10 in conference play. The Pirates will face Texas Lutheran University on Friday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the SCAC Men's Championship quarterfinal in Kerrville, Texas.
