Second half leads to 71-65 loss

TYLER, Texas – Southwestern hit a rough patch offensively in the second half resulting in a 71-65 loss to UT Tyler Wednesday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A seesaw start to the game gave way to Southwestern building a 13-point lead halfway through the first half.
  • UT Tyler steadily chipped away at the lead and pulled as close as three points with 3:27 left to play in the first, but the Pirates went into the locker room with an eight point lead, 36-28, after Connor Kim's three.
  • After building their lead back to 13 early in the second half Southwestern then went quiet, going nearly five minutes without scoring. UTT finally tied the game at 46 with 10 minutes remaining.
  • The Patriots took their first lead of the second half with just under eight minutes to play, 51-48, and SU was never able to take the game over again as UTT sealed the win from the free throw line.

Southwestern falls to 3-8 on the year and remain on the road to open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action in Seguin Saturday against Texas Lutheran (8-3). Game time is set for 4 pm.
