Pirates post huge win over Schreiner

Southwestern shot an unbelievable 60% from the field and 46.7% from three point range in a 74-54 win over Schreiner University in SCAC action on Saturday.

The win improves SU to 8-6 on the year and 3-2 in conference play.

The Pirates took a 12 point lead into halftime, 38-26, after shooting 65.2% from the floor and 71.4% from three point range, both percentages that are nearly unheard of. Southwestern also only committed four turnovers in the frame.

The second half was more of the same as Southwestern's hot hand continued and their deep bench did the bulk of the lifting.

Ryan Ogden led Southwestern with 17 points, missing just one jumper in 24 minutes of action. He was 7-8 from the floor and 2-2 from long range. Chris Lee and Blake Scott each added in 10 while Scott and Brandyn Hawk led on the glass with six rebounds each. Schreiner was led by Charlie Nunez with 14 points.

Now on a two-game win streak, Southwestern remains on the road to face the University of Dallas on Friday in Irving for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
