POOR FREE THROW SHOOTING CONTINUES SKID

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Pirates men's basketball team's losing streak continued with a 94-58 loss at Birmingham Southern on Friday night. Southwestern shot just 30% from the free throw line in the loss.

Southwestern started out the game well and had the contest tied, 14-14, with 11:59 to play in the first half. From that point BSC went on a 13-0 run over the next four minutes to mount a 13 point lead, 27-14, with 8:40 to play in the first and led by 24 at the break, 47-23.

The Panthers continued to pile on the points in the early parts of the second half and led by 34 points, 63-29, with 16:39 remaining. The Pirates we never able to eclipse the 30 point deficit and fell by 36, 94-58.

Logan Hurley had 19 points to lead all scorers while Nick Caputo was the only other Pirate in double figures iwth 10 points. Chase Kocher had four steals to lead Southwestern in the loss.

As a team the Pirates were -13 in rebounding margin but +2 in turnovers.

SU remains on the road to face Rhodes College on Saturday night.
