DEPAUW THREE POINT SHOOTING HANDS PIRATES LOSS

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The DePauw Tigers shot 51.7% from three point range and scored 30 of their 69 points to hand Southwestern their fifth consecutive loss Saturday night, 69-40.

DePauw came out hot from three point range and sustained it throughout the entire first half, scoring nine of their 11 field goals from deep and led by 19 points, 33-14, at halftime.

The barrage of three pointers continued as the second half got underway but Southwestern hung right with the Tigers through the first 10 minutes. Rhett Rowan's three pointer brought the Pirates within 16, 44-28 with 11 minutes remaining in the game.

DePauw then embarked on a 14-2 run to lead by 28, 58-30, with 7:12 remaining. Southwestern was unable to pull closer before ultimately falling 69-40. 

Southwestern was -7 in rebounds and committed seven more turnovers in the loss. All but nine of DePauw's field goals were from three point range.

James Davenport (pictured) led the Pirates with nine points while Jonathan Brown had a team high five rebounds. DePauw's Steve Lemasters led all scorers with 15 points.

Southwestern falls to 4-14 on the season, 2-7 in the SCAC while DePauw improves to 11-7, 6-3. The Pirates hit the road to face East leading Birmingham Southern on Friday night at 8:00 pm.
