STRUGGLES CONTINUE FOR PIRATES, FALL TO SEWANEE 91-52

SEWANEE, Tenn. - Southwestern's men's basketball team hit another rough stretch on Saturday night, falling to the Sewanee Tigers 91-52. That is the third consecutive loss for the Pirates as they fall to 4-12 on the year, 2-5 in the SCAC. Sewanee improves to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in conference after the win.

Jonathan Brown's three pointer to start the game gave Southwestern the lead first but Sewanee answered with a three of their own and then continued to pull away, leading by seven, 38-31, at the break.

Following halftime the teams traded baskets before the Tigers went on an 18-4 run and led by 23 with 9:38 to go. Southwestern wasn't able to put together a substantial run of their own and Sewanee pulled further and further away until the final horn sounded.

SU shot 37.5% from the floor and 25% from three point range while Sewanee couldn't miss going 56.4% from the field and an astonishing 60.9% from long range.

Logan Hurley led Southwestern with 11 points while Brown chipped in 10. Sewanee's Valentino Bryant led all scorers with 19.

Southwestern returns home and looks to get back on track as they face Centre on Friday night and DePauw on Sunday.
