REBOUNDS COST PIRATES ON ROAD

ATLANTA, Ga. - Southwestern was out-rebounded 46-24 on Friday evening as they fell to Oglethorpe University 83-59. The loss drops SU to a 4-10 record, 2-3 in the SCAC, while OU improves to 7-7, 3-2 in conference.

The Pirates fell behind early and found themselves in a 13 point deficit, 42-29, going into halftime as OU started and ended the half with three pointers.

Oglethorpe started the second half on a 22-5 run, mounting a 30-point lead over Southwestern with 11:33 to play and the Pirates were never able to get back in the contest as the Stormy Petrels continued to run up the score.

Southwestern shot 42.2% from the field, 31.6% from long range while OU shot 42% from the floor and 42.9% from three point and didn't miss a free throw all night, going 10-10 from the charity stripe.

Senior Nick Caputo was the lone Pirate in double figures, scoring 16 points, and led all scorers. Rhett Rowan led the team in rebounds with four and Chase Kocher knotched five assists. OU's Alex Richey had 15 points to lead the Stormy Petrels. 

The Pirates remain on the road as they face the Sewanee Tigers on Saturday night in another SCAC match-up. Game time is set for 8:00 pm.
