SOFTBALL'S INAUGURAL SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE WITH LOSS TO RHODES

April 25, 2009

Box Score

Southwestern University ended a spectacular inaugural season on Saturday with a loss to Rhodes in the SCAC Softball Conference Tournament. The Pirates fell 2-0 in the contest and end the year at 19-16.

Two runs were all the Lynx needed to capture the victory and they scored them in the first two innings of the game. Southwestern's usually hot bats were held at bay as Rhodes made some difficult plays and held the Pirates to just three hits, two by LF Blair Wallace including a triple.

Lynsy Maus started the contest and allowed six hits and two runs in 1.2 innings and incurred the loss. Kaitlyn Pavlicek came in relief and held Rhodes to two hits and no runs in 4.1 innings.

The Pirates end the 2009 season as the regular season SCAC-West conference champions.
